What’s the difference between Ro/Ro and Container Shipping?
There are two key methods car shipping: Roll-On/Roll-Off (Ro/Ro) and via enclosed container. Here is some information that can help you decide which vehicle shipping method to use.
Container Shipping – The main benefit of enclosed container shipping is the added security it offers. There are two ways to ship a car using a container—individually in a dedicated container, or with other vehicles in a shared container. In our shared container shipping service, your car will be loaded into a 40ft container together with multiple vehicles. Since fees are shared with other vehicle owners, the cost to ship the car by sea is reduced, and helps you save on unloading and destination fees. Dedicated containers are usually 20ft – You will end up paying more in fees, but you’ll get to shorten the duration between departure and arrival. In addition, if you’ve got household goods to ship, you can place them in the container as well, which will remain closed until reaching its final destination.
Roll-On/Roll-Off – Our most budget-friendly car shipping option. Your car will need to be in working condition in order to ship via this method, as it will have to be driven onto a shipping vessel. Depending on where you wish to depart from and which arrival port you would like to use, you may actually end up paying less in single vehicle rates, however you won’t be able to transport anything inside the car and a longer time may be required to cross the ocean. How long it will take, the cost and other details will depend on which method you choose and the type of vehicle you are shipping.
